Geography
IGCSE Geography is a two-year course that seeks to encourage students to acquire knowledge and understanding of a range of important issues that have a geographical dimension. The issues are both physical and human, and range in scale from local to global.
Topics covered include the natural environment, resources and production, population and settlement, as well as the related topics of globalisation, human welfare and sustainability.
A key aspect of this course is that students study geographical concepts and theories through investigative fieldwork as well as through classroom-based study. This course encourages the international dimension by requiring the study of a range of locations in different parts of the world.
Assessment
The assessment of this qualification is through a 2 hour and 45 minute examination paper, set and marked by Edexcel.
The paper will contain a variety of question types, such as multiple-choice, short and extended questions, graphical & data questions and fieldwork questions.
